A MAN will spend the next seven months behind bars after admitting setting fire to an Ipswich soccer club "for fun".
Christopher Colin Forshey, 19, and Robbie Joseph Nowlan, 19, were drinking at Redbank Plains Recreational Reserve with friends early in the morning of March 7 last year when they decided to break into the club's canteen.
But after stealing lollies and ice cream, the pair lit a fire inside the Westminster Soccer Club using paper and air freshener.
Ipswich District Court heard the building was engulfed in flames and entirely destroyed, causing $200,000 damage to the building and $35,000 in contents damage.
Crown Prosecutor Kathleen Christopherson said the pair "burnt down this public property for fun".
