The gardens - which are open to all members of the local community - feature an amazing array of fruit and vegetables grown by utilizing modern and traditional horticultural practices, making this a truly thriving oasis.
The launch of the Westfalen Community Gardens Cookbook and inaugural International Food Day.
Fruit and vegetables are bountiful with zucchinis, grapes, beans, peas, pumpkins, cucumbers and marrow the size of a man's forearm - just to name a few of the traditional varieties growing in these spacious gardens.
The Westfalen Gardens are supported by the State Government and the Ipswich City Council and offer free plots to anyone who wants to get involved with this tremendous initiative.
To top off the Gardens, there is a chook run - financed by the State Government - with the most-contented fowls you have ever seen, scratching away to their hearts content in a very modern roost.
At the weekend, the Gardens launched the Westfalen Cookbook and inaugural International Food Day with a brilliant array of international cuisine. Delicacies from 15 countries around the world were on offer including Samoan banana and ice cream as well as beans on coconut milk from Tanzania.
