Police appeal for information into assault of woman, 25, at Redbank Plains

POLICE detectives in Ipswich are appealing for the public to provide information on the serious assault of a 25-year-old woman at Redbank Plains, south-west of Brisbane, which was witnessed by a young boy.

The woman was in a grocery store's car park about 5pm on July 4 with a 20-year-old man and young boy when she was attacked and left with serious abdominal injuries.

A verbal argument broke out between the couple and another man and woman just before the woman was assaulted.

The other woman physically assaulted the 25-year-old before bystanders intervened between the pair.

The woman was taken to Ipswich General Hospital with serious abdominal injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it has been urged to contact Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit on 3817 1530 or Crime Stoppers.
