Sausage diet for volunteers from Goodna Meat Mart's Danny Moore comes to end

IF you attended a barbecue fundraiser in the Goodna area after the floods, chances are the meat you enjoyed was from Goodna Meat Mart owner Danny Moore.

MEAT MARKET: Owner of Goodna Meat Mart Danny Moore, shows off the meat he's been providing for the community of Goodna.

IF you attended a barbecue fundraiser in the Goodna area after the floods, chances are the meat you enjoyed was from Goodna Meat Mart owner Danny Moore.

After the flood waters receded, many communities responded by hosting sausage sizzles to raise money for flood relief.

And, as the only butcher in Goodna to be spared by the flood, Mr Moore's shop usually supplied the meat.

"In the last month, there has been at least a 50 per cent increase in people ordering sausages," Mr Moore said.

"People have been trying to ignite the community, and hosting a barbecue seems to be the perfect setting for people to come together."

To assist the community, Mr Moore has donated thousands of dollars worth of meat to church groups, fundraisers and events like the Goodna Flood Recovery Centre Thank You concert and barbecue on February 20.

"Our business was very lucky," Mr Moore said.

"The flood waters literally stopped at our front door.

"When you are graced with such good fortune, it really gives you an incentive to help out those who were not as lucky.

"I'm just glad I was able to do my part to help the community. After all, people are always a little happier with a full belly."
