Ipswich's first baby for 2011 - David Deng Adoor, newborn son of Pastor John Deng and Sarah Malual of Collingwood Park
with baby David Deng Adoor who was born at 5.17am at
Ipswich Hospital on New Year's day. With them are
daughters Monica, four, Jacqueline, two, and Margaret,
six, at right.
Sarah Malual always had a feeling the baby she was carrying was a boy.
On Saturday her thoughts were confirmed when her son David Deng Adoor arrived at 5.17am, which made him the first baby born in Ipswich for 2011.
David weighed in at 3570 grams.
He is the fourth child for Sarah and her husband Reverend John Deng, who is the director of the Sudanese Support Foundation.
After three girls, the couple said they were happy to welcome a boy, who is named after Reverend Deng's father.
The family emigrated from Sudan in 2005 with then six-month-old daughter Margaret.
Their second daughter, four-year-old Monica, was born at Brisbane's Mater Hospital and two-year-old daughter Jacqueline at Ipswich Hospital.
Reverend Deng said the couple moved to Australia for a better life for themselves and their children.
"We feel like we are at home here," Reverend Deng said.
"People have made us feel welcome. We feel like we are part of society."
