A number of people were handcuffed and arrested
when fights broke out after a car accident on Bertha
Street in Goodna on Wednesday.
A white sedan slammed side-on into a power pole near the corner of Bertha and Eric streets about 4.30pm, injuring the male driver.
Several police cars and wagons attended the incident after a fight erupted in the street near the crash scene.
Up to five people were arrested but police were yesterday unable to confirm if any had been charged.
Police said the injured driver was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where it was expected a blood specimen would be taken to check his blood-alcohol level.
The vehicle was towed for a mechanical inspection.
An 18-year-old man from Booval was arrested following a separate road crash at Raceview, about 6.15pm on Wednesday.
The man was allegedly over the alcohol limit while driving dangerously near the area of Raceview Street and Westminster Crescent, when his Holden Com- modore slammed into the passen- ger's side door of a Holden Astra.
There were no injuries, but police said several angry people had gathered near the scene to confront the driver.
