Redbank Plains doughnuts land learner $400 fine

A LEARNER driver was caught driving an unregistered car after police found him doing "doughnuts".

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Dylan Paul Anderson Powhiro was caught driving in circles at the Redbank Plains recreational reserve about 8.30pm on March 28.

Powhiro, 17, told police he had driven a short distance from a friend's home to do "doughnuts".

"He wanted to do it on the grass not on the road," Prosecutor Senior Constable Adam McDonald said.

"He stated it may cause danger to others on the road."

Powhiro pleaded guilty to driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle which was displaying registration plates which belonged to another vehicle while he was unaccompanied on his learner's permit and not displaying learner's plates.

He was fined $400.
