Federal Government funding will be used to lure players to Springfield United Football Club and help the club participate in more community events.

The club received a $3000 grant to purchase new equipment for club and community functions.

Federal Member for Oxley Bernie Ripoll (pictured) said the money was provided as part of the Government's Volunteer Grants initiative to purchase a new barbecue, marquee, esky and coaching equipment.

Member for Oxley Bernie Ripoll said the grant would help the club to expand and promote volunteering.

``The Australian Government values the enormous contribution volunteers in the western corridor make and this funding will ease the financial pressure on the new Springfield United Football Club and their hard-working volunteers,'' he said
Club president and Mr Ripoll's aide Ryan Ginard said the funding was awarded through proper procedures. He said the grant would help grow the club's base and give volunteers the tools to participate in community events.

``If you don't have the stuff to run events you won't have many volunteers down the track,'' he said.
